Alzheimers Care

At Maplewood, we understand the unique needs of individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and other memory disorders. Maplewood’s special memory impairment program is individualized, from the care a resident receives to the activities they participate in to make each day more meaningful.

Evergreen Court, Maplewood’s memory care center, is a self-contained living center that offers a secure, structured and nurturing environment designed to meet the particular physical and psychosocial needs of the residents.  The goals of the program are safety, freedom, dignity and reaching the highest level of functioning while emphasizing quality of life.

Maplewood understands the importance of including our resident’s family and providing consistency in caregivers when cognitive impairment is involved.  To help residents develop a sense of trust and confidence in the people caring for them, the same staff members provide care for the same residents.  Staff education includes specialized training in: confusion, anger, mood swings, language breakdown and long term memory loss.

Special activities tailored for both group and individual participation, help cultivate residents’ unique interests and maximize both self-esteem and the feeling of independence while enhancing their functional capacities.  Residents enjoy freedom of movement within a safety-controlled, restraint-free environment.
